False colour near field images of the sample. The yellow/red area is the 120 µm diameter optically pumped region. The injection of a broad, coherent laser field close to the cavity resonance leads to the appearance of structures in the reflected field : spontaneous localized structures (left) and pattern with local hexagonal symmetry (right). The parameters that have changed between the two images are the pump intensity and the injection wavelength.
